Life Cast vs. Sculptural Form

This is a good example of the difference between real life and sculptural form. Though form from real life is beautiful, Sculptural form must be purposeful and designed. Sometimes real is not enough--it needs to be carried a little further.Norman Rockwell said "You have to throw the ball twice as hard against the wall in order to make it come back half as far." This exageration gives your sculpture a greater sense of beauty and understanding. Of course, your own style and individuality dictate the shapes you make, but just remember - your shapes should be made on purpose. Always think.
